Neck and shoulder pain quickly set in after starting my new 'WFH' job. My new laptop is huge, so there's little point connecting it to my own monitor, hence I decided on a laptop table rather than a proper convertible desk (happily, because although they are excellent, they are also cumbersome and expensive).
My goodness, there is a LOT of choice. I deliberated for a long time. And I have to admit, it was the brand name, Grandma Shark, that first caught my eye(!), followed by the price. Surely it can't be any good for £17.99?
The review photos are much better than the stock images, and thanks to everyone who answered my question, plus the appeal of bamboo over plastic, I decided on this one.
First impression: it needs veey little packaging (see photo), another environmental win.
Second impression: it smells lovely!
And the rest: the quality is exceptional. There is no assembly required, you just need to find the optimum position for you, and adjusting it is very easy. It folds down flat. The dinky drawer and vents are helpful and not unattractive features. It feels very sturdy when in use, despite the rounded feet.
As a standing desk, with the keyboard flat, it unfortunately isn't quite high enough for me (I'm around 5'5 in old speak), so I'd still be looking down at the screen, which is the cause of my pain. I raised it another inch or two by straightening the legs (which are currently tight enough to allow that without risk of slippage, however when my cat came along and gave it a cheek rub, that was sufficient to topple it! Note to self, don't do that again! 😀
The lowest level of 'tilt' brings the screen up nicely as shown, but that's not a great typing position, as your wrists are meant to be straight. However for intermittent typing, it's perfect. No more pain!
I checked the measurements before I ordered, so I mention this only to make others looking for a low-cost standing desk converter aware, rather than a critique of the item itself.
Out of 5 stars, I'd give it 6. Incredibly good value.
