A great printer that does its job

Assembly of the printer was simple 8 screws and a couple of cables to connect and that is it. The auto bed levelling isn't. It is more an assisted bed levelling system. Once you have got the hang of it it is easy and there are several videos on U tube to help with getting the hang of it. Print quality is good but that depends largely on the complexity of the subject and slicer settings and material quality, the better tuned the settings and materials and the stl files the better the prints and they can be excellent. Personally I use the latest version of Cura rather than the archaic version supplied on the SD card, though both work, the latest version has more features and gives better results in my opinion. I have yet to use other slicer software. All in all this is an excellent printer at a great price, now all we need if the ability to upgrade it to dual or triple colour printing.

A very easy to use, low cost 3D printer.

I am completely new to 3D printing and approached this new hobby with a degree of nervousness. I selected this particular printer on price, ease of assembly and features (print size, auto levelling etc.).

I can confirm that it is 4 easy steps to assemble and I spent more time reading about it to ensure that I did everything correctly than it actually took me to assemble. On the additional checks, I only needed to tighten one of the belts and adjust a couple of wheels and I was up and running. I was printing my first item in 90 minutes from starting assembly. Although the manual is good, I recommend as a first step to look at the video link found on the SD card. This takes you through the whole process in a clear and easy to understand manner.

Within the first day, I had downloaded some models from the internet and set them up for printing with the included software. I have even constructed some models of my own using the free Microsoft 3D Builder programme, converted them with the TronXY software and printed them with excellent results.

Printing has been very easy with good accuracy and no problems with poor adhesion to the printer bed. The removable sticker plate can be flexed for easy removal of the models. Again all very well explained in the manual. The auto levelling bed is a dream to use and ensures good results every time. I am very pleased with the results.

The printer comes with a spare nozzle and heater, all of the assembly tools required and 0.25 kg of filament. So everything that you need is in the box as delivered. I am very pleased with this printer and has it has helped me to make the journey into the 3D printing world in an enjoyable and stress free manner. I would completely recommend this printer to others wishing to start this hobby.

Downsides : very few. The power switch and SD card slot are at the back and are not the easiest to access. The 3D printer gives a readout of the expected time to print but you typically need to double this for small models. It is not as popular as some other similar printers which means that spares and advice may not be so readily found. These are all minor points.

A remarkably robust 3D printer, with some very nice features for the price point

I've been working with FDM 3D printers for a long time (as in, early RepRap days), and I've seen a fair few different variations on the standard chassis layouts. This one is a pretty orthodox design, although the closed-source firmware is a bit of an issue to me - there's no problems with the functionality of it, I just like to be able to fiddle with core settings.

Firstly, the packaging is excellent, as I've come to expect in recent years. Properly fitted foam inserts, intelligently laid out and secured. Full marks for that.

Extraction and assembly was very simple - there's a grand total of six bolts to be secured. However, that does lead to the only issue I've had so far with this: the threads cut into the uprights weren't quite long enough for the bolts provided (M5x50) - it was only by a millimetre or so, so the inclusion of some split washers resolved that. At worst, this is a minor QC problem, but realistically it's due to the fact that most M5 taps simply aren't that long, and are shouldered at that sort of depth. A minor grumble, but it would have renderd the printer unusable if I'd not been able to resolve it. Hopefully TronXY will include some split washers in future kits.

The touchscreen interface is nice and simple, with minimal ambiguities - this is a pleasant surprise, given that I'm used to some 'interesting' translations between Chinese and English. It still uses that horrible Serif font that seems to be the standard for Roman text in Chinese applications, but it is minimal, so this isn't really a valid complaint, just a minor note.

The levelling sensor is inductive, so if you're planning to use a glass print bed, be aware of that. I haven't got it working right with a 3mm borosilicate sheet yet, but I've not thrown any serious time at it yet. The print bed that comes with the printer is sufficient, although I would definitely prefer glass. The inclusion of a filament break sensor is also a nice touch - I wasn't expecting that at all, and although it is just a microswitch in a box, it's still a nice addition. The heated bed is very fast compared to others that I've used - it gets up to temperature about as quickly as the hot end, which was a big (and welcome) surprise.

The prints included on the SD card are LONG and the estimated time readout underestimates by around 40%. PrusaSlicer gives a more accurate estimate than TronXY's software does, although this sort of thing has been a running issue in all kinda of CAM software in my experience - unless you're dropping 10k/seat on CAM software, times estimates are usually wild guesses at best.

It's not a super-fast printer out of the box, but it is remarkably quiet. As I've already said, I've been building and working with 3D printers for a long time, and almost all of them have made their presence known by singing the song of their people at you ad nauseam (Stepper motor choir represent). I'm going to do some stress testing, and see if I can bump up the print speeds a bit while still maintaining print quality, preferably without sacrificing that beautiful silence.

As shown in the last picture, print quality is generally very good, although there is a little bit of Z wobble - this can be resolved by adjusting the eccentric nuts on the bearing wheels. It's not a process that's documented in the manual, but Jeff's 3D Corner on youtube goes through the setup and tweaks on this printer very well.

Overall, I'd say this has been a very good purchase. It beats the Ender 3 Pro that I set up for a former workplace, largely because of the drastic simplification in initial setup, although it loses a few points for having a closed-source firmware and middling documentation. Neither of these things are hard to overcome, but due to the relatively minor presence online of TronXY users, information can be a little sparse.

TronXY - if you're reading this, this is an excellent product, but please open up the firmware, or use a Marlin derivative. 3D printers are overwhelmingly used by people that want to be able to tweak and modify them, and it would really open up market opportunities for you if the firmware were openly modifiable by end users.

      An Unbiased opinion

an amazing product for the price and nothing is broken in the box , just a few miner scratches although the box was packaged extremely well and no missing parts.

however the instructions were a bit unclear as to how to put it all together although all of the cables are labelled i was however able to put it all together in the matter of 2 hours

in total i would suggest you buy this 3D printer for the price as its a good quality , almost no plastic , happy with my purchase

      Worked perfectly first time.

Took about 30 minutes to assemble. After reading through the operating instructions, setting the levels and Z offset I tried my first print. Chose the rook from the supplied micro Sd card. The print quality was very good using using the default settings. My next print was a battery box for 18650 cells. Again the printer did a great job. This printer would be a good choice for the beginner as there is very little to assemble and print quality very good. Delivery was earlier the ETA.

      Very good but slightly flawed

I liked the ease of setup the overall look of the printer but the biggest problem I had is with the bed levelling. The way that they seem to say I always found gave mixed results but I after much trail and error found that by the use of the Z offset setting a precise height can be set which solved my problem. So overall a good machine at a good price

      Very easy to assemble.

This printer is by far the easier one I have found to assemble and get operating out of the box, it only took about 45 minutes to be up and printing. Print quality is excellent for a printer of this price range, I would recommend it to any who wants to try 3d printing and doesn't want to spend a fortune on their first 3d printer.

      Tronxy xy2 Pro, great printer

This is my first 3d printer and no previous experience, easy to assemble as already part assembled. Solid and quality feel, levelling the bed was easy due to support from the level sensor, on my second attempt the printer was leveled and ready to print. The Rook model is included within the supplied SDcard, which took 10hrs to print, not sure if this is the norm as I've never used a 3d printer but the final result was great. Highly recommended for this price point.
