Description

Specially designed to mark the 20th anniversary of the Speedlink brand, the COMPETITION PRO EXTRA USB joystick is a declaration of the company's love for nostalgic computer games. Its design with its unmistakable arcade machine stick and technology - such as the iconic micro switches with their loud click - is a throwback to the original COMPETITION PRO from the 80s, the famously popular joystick for home computers. Building on this the new stick has been designed for the digital era, making it perfect for arcade and retro games. And for you to enjoy some classic action, your COMPETITION PRO EXTRA comes with 20 games for download - one to mark each year since Speedlink was founded - including reinterpretations of retro gems such as Summer Games as well as arcade titles, all in the spirit of great home computer classics. With its DirectInput support you'll be gaming in no time at all - and there are no drivers to install either. And thanks to the joystick's two round and two triangular fire buttons plus rapid-fire mode you'll enjoy a huge gaming advantage. The COMPETITION PRO EXTRA is compatible with Windows 7 or later and Android devices via an OTG adapter. 80s here we come!.Box Contains1 x joystick

      ZX Spectrum Emulator Compatible

Well I'm back in the 1980's with this product, it is a perfect recreation of the joystick that I was using back in the day. I wanted to use the joystick with some emulators that I have for the ZX Spectrum and it works perfectly with everything that I have used it with. On the PC I use "ZX Spin", for the Raspberry Pi I'm using "FUSE" and I have a Bare Metal Emulator "zxbaremulator" the only thing to mention is that the fire button can be differently assigned for the same game on the different emulators.

      Dont work

We are very disappointed. such a wast of money, the free Games included, are in a different language so to be able to even try and download you need to be able to translate. we have tried to play a few games with it but for some reason it just don't want to work and due to ill health it was to late to try and return it. if I could give it a no star then I would

      Excellent joystick

Very happy with the Speedlink Joystick, if you have a C64 mini with latest FW get this one, you won't regret it.What I AM disappointed with is that I paid full price for a product that's been clearly used, or at least the box it came in was brutally opened by someone. The product was for sure a return by previous customer the way the box looked, not a brand new from the factory as I expected. NOT GOOD!

Needed stick for joy, but found it to be rather stiff.

This stick would have provided more joy, if it were not for the micro-switched stiffness.Perhaps after additional hours of use, it will loosen up?Build quality is solid and hard, unlike the similar item from the early '90s.An example of a "retro" item being an improvement over the original in terms of construction quality.

For once something that worked out of the box no messing.

This joystick 🕹️ is exactly like the one I had growing up when I had my Amiga 500. It doesn't seem to like my usb hub but it does work brilliantly plugged directly into my laptop. I have fedora Linux installed on my laptop and this joystick 🕹️ just worked right out of the box. No drivers to install. I have been using it with an Amiga emulator and have been playing old Amiga games. Rick Dangerous, Great Giana Sisters, Bomberman etc... I even managed to drag my 8 year old daughter away from Roblox to play these retro games. Best buy I have had in ages.

Makes a great handbrake for SIM Racing!

This is a really useful bit of tech. I was looking for a simple, inexpensive USB game controller to use as a handbrake alongside my G29 wheels and TH8A shifter. This does the job perfectly. Clamped to the desk, I have configured it to apply the handbrake when I pull the joystick back. As it has old school micro switches, it has a lovely positive action and an audible click to let you know the handbrake has engaged! It has four buttons too and these can be configured to be certain secondary controls in most racing SIMs. I use mine for headlights and horn! It has really finished off my SIM racing setup, and it costs a lot less than the purpose built USB handbrakes out there. It really enhances rally games and rally-X games.

Stiff, and small movement, but good.

The movement range is very small, which is great for me, but the springs are very strong, so not comfortable for me to use with weak hands.Works plug and play (linux: Debian, Ubuntu, Rasbian), Inputs reliably, and has plenty of buttons.

      Outstanding

Ordered this as wanted to have an authentic experience using WinUAE and WinVice64. I have an Amiga and use my Zipstik or Competition Pro with it.. and at first I tried to find an adapter that would allow me to use these joysticks on my laptop.. However, I saw the new and improved version of the Speedlink USB Competition pro and thought I'd give it a go.

It arrived in a lovely little box.. the joystick is sturdy and nicely made.. most important, though, it has the satisfying click of a high quality microswitch joystick.. in fact, I was surprised at how hardy it was.. as I am used to the loosened-over-time joysticks I own for my Amiga. I plugged it in and it recognised right away (Windows 10 64-bit) and it came up as an option under controllers in WinUAE and WinVice.

Using it is a dream.. it functions perfectly and is SOOOOOOOOOooooo much better than using either keyboard or an Xbox 360 controller. It also has 4 INDEPEDENT buttons, meaning you can play modern, retro styled indie games too!

It also comes with 20 free games.. a code is provided to download them from the Speedlink site. I have not done this yet so can't comment on their quality, but they look like graphical revamped versions of classics like trailblazer and IK+.

If you want a classic joystick for your PC then this is the answer!!

      Nice Enough

Nice enough joystick, you know robust like most used to be years ago? Can only give this four stars because the join around the middle of the base was a little sharp in places and the 20 games, installation, windows launcher and games are in German

Good Joystick. Can take some fiddling to get working on the Raspberry Pi

Nice looking and fits in well with RetroPi/PiMega/AmiBerry setup to relive past gaming experiences.Took some fiddling about to get it working on the Raspberry Pi.Looking at /dev/input I could see js0 and test it using jstest js0 successfully but it would not be recognised within the emulators. It seems that the gamecontrollerdb.txt file on most distributions does not cover this joystick. (The exact location varies on emulator, distribution, image etc.) To get it working I had to edit the file and add the following line at the end of the Linux section.03000000790000001c18000011010000,SPEEDLINK COMPETITION PRO Game Controller for Android,a:b0,back:b4,lefttrigger:b3,leftx:a0,lefty:a1,start:b1,platform:Linux,
