      Just doesn't suck enough

      We already had a Vax ‘Gator’ portable vacuum cleaner for our house, which we’d occasionally take out to use to give the car a quick sweep. It’s a little bit more expensive than this Motodia cleaner, but long story short, the Vax is a better choice. It’s more versatile, because it has an internal battery so you can use it around the house, car or anywhere else, whereas this Motodia’s reliance on a 12V cigarette lighter socket is a definite limitation.

      And the Vax is better at picking stuff up. This Motodia is a noisy beast, but if the engineers could’ve turned some more of the noise-making into suction, it would’ve really helped. It’s alright with dust on a dashboard or light dustings of sand, but as soon as you’re trying to get the dry leaf stuff off the thick, Velcro-like pile of a car footwell, this little vacuum cleaner underperforms.

      It’s a shame because in other respects it’s quite nicely presented. I rather like the slightly odd bronze-and-black-plastic styling of it, and it’s well packaged in a good boot-friendly and compact travel bag, with a reasonable range of different attachments to imitate a full-size vacuum cleaner.

      I can see how this would have an appeal to taxi or Uber drivers who need to give their cars a quick once-over every now and again, and it seems well-made and convenient, but for me the bottom line is that it didn’t suck hard enough.

      The best 12v Vacuum I've tried

      Very impressed with this MotoDia V100. I've had 2 or 3 12v vacs for the car over the years and they've all been quite disappointing. This one comes with not only a handy carry bag to keep all the fitments in one place, but also a flexi hose extension for use in those hard to reach areas. I tested it on an old carpet car mat that had quite a bit of rubbish and fluff on it and also dampened the mat by leaving it in the rain for 5 minutes. Suction was good for a 12v vacuum - better than previous brands I've tried (obviously not as good as a mains powered household vac but impressive non the less). It picked up most of the bits and fluff. For the remaining bits, I plugged in the flexi hose and the small brush head (included) and it easily picked up the remaining bits once the brush had agitated the bits.Very impressed. Well done MotoDia.

      A good choice

      Until I had this portable car vacuum I’d use the main unit from in the house, and have to carry it to and from the car. Although that is more powerful than this portable model the inconvenience of using it makes this one a preferred choice for me. Despite being smaller and less powerful it is still good enough to clean properly, and because it has a long power lead it can reach all around the car. The set includes all of the tools that I need, and even a bag to keep it all in. I like that the vacuum is bagless and that the stainless steel filter is easy to wash out. The tool itself is more robust than I had expected too, and for the price this is good choice.

      A good little sucker

      Tried this out on my very dirty car interior. It comes with a selection of attachments, including a crevice nozzle type one, a brush and an extension hose. You've got to think in a small scale here so the extension is only a foot or so.

      I actually found it worked pretty well especially bearing in mind it only has a 106 watt motor. I tried all the attachments and everything works. I was quite impressed. It comes with a zip up bag so it can be neatly stowed away in the boot. The dust, Eric is stored in the nose section.

      The down sides: I struggled to empty it without making a mess. Also because it works off the accessories socket in the car, you can't use it just anywhere. Mind you it is car vacuum! The lead is pretty long but I'm not sure if it would be long enough to vacuum the boot of a big car (mine is smallish).

      Overall it's a decent vacuum & very much better than the rechargeable one i had many years ago.

      Perfect car vacuum cleaner.

      This is perfect for my son who seems to have a strange affection for vacuum cleaners , but I noticed he didn't have a specific cleaner for his car. It plugs into to charge and off you go. It doesn't have the suction of a normal vacuum cleaner but it isn't bad in comparison to car vacuums of the past. My son will love it as he has 3 children , and 1 dog . This is very small and easy to store in the car , perfect for people who li!e a crumb/mud free car.

      Convenient little vacuum

      This is a convenient little vacuum; with it's smart bag, it's a good size to keep in the car all the time.

      The suction isn't amazing. However, the long cable (over 4 m) can reach anywhere, even in a larger vehicle. And the brush attachment and longer nozzle are great for getting into awkward corners.

      Build quality is okay (though not at the standards of the brand leaders); it should last pretty well though. I feel it represents excellent value for money.

      Simply great

      OK, so it is a car vacuum and they are not very good, right? Sort of, if you are expecting the same sort of suction as made available from a domestic vacuum cleaner or one available on a garage forecourt, well you would be right, however, if you want something that you can use for intermediate cleaning, such as after a week making a daily commute to work or similar this might be the item for you.

      I am fortunate in that I was able to compare this item with a cordless Dyson vacuum cleaner and compare the two! I have graded them below:

      Versatility
      ========

      Cordless will be more versatile, obviously, but the Moto has a 12 foot cable and therefore can reach anywhere even in a large vehicle PLUS it has a number of tools which the Dyson doesn't have, therefore giving a better clean, but overall the Dyson gets the award.

      Suction and power
      ===============

      Hands down, even with the fantastically engineered Dyson have an excellent motor, the Moto wins hands down on the basis that the Dyson gives up after 15 minutes and needs a re-charge, (Dyson says that they run for 20 minutes - they may do, but not continuously from my experience) yet the Moto can be run for 15 minutes, before you have to stop to allow the motor to cool down, Cooled down, start again, whilst you are still waiting for the Dyson to re-charge.

      Build Quality and Price
      ==================

      Build quality, the Dyson has it, but not by much. The Moto is not badly put together and looks and feels much better than you would think for £26.99 - plus it is only 1/7 of the price of the Dyson V6 Car and Boat vacuum that I compared it with.

      So is it better than the Dyson or not? No it isn't, sadly it isn't, what it does do is challenge it very well. It would be my choice for no other reason than:

      Price - it costs very little
      Wet and Dry - I have never vacuumed a wet car, but the Moto does permit vacuuming of wet areas
      Simplicity and powerful motor - it will do the job, great for small spills and a tidy up, anything more, you need a bigger vacuum.
      Quality - it isn't up to Dyson quality, but for the car it is great and stores away neatly in its bag in the boot, or as I do leave it in the garage for when I need it.

      Great little item and up to five stars, no question.
