No reason to get less than the 3 B+

What can I say? Excellent for messing around with. Should have bought a Pi years ago to get my geek on but they were limited in connectivity. For my projects it feels fast enough. Connecting with VNC over wifi shows no noticeable lag. This feels like a real computer but tiny.

One word of warning - you will need a decent PSU - 2.5a is more than most charger plugs deliver.

I can't see why anyone would want to save a few quid to get an older one. Just get this.

      A mini mini computer

Raspberry Pi’s have become my new way of passing time. I have a couple on the go. They are versatile, lending themselves to thousands of possible uses from CCTV DVRs, to home automation, to web servers to sound systems. This specific product is Pi only so you need to buy power supply/SD card and case. There are thousands of articles on the internet to help you get started, would make a great gift for any miniature geeks (or grown up ones for that matter)!

      Great little kit

My only regret is that I have not bought this earlier. As an Electronic Engineer, I can't really comment on how easy is to use as the others might disagree. I have done quite a few projects and I'm really impressed with the quality. Is has never failed on me and it just works even though I have used it for continuous periods of time (in very long time-lapse photography). I am thinking to buy another one to have more projects in parallel. Definitely recommend and is a very good starting point for anyone that is interested in computers/electronics.

      Great for Retro Emulation

Love these things. I’ve got three now and a rpi 2 I use as an low power torrent box.

They are very versatile and adapterable to your needs. Personally use my rpi 3b as retro games console, one on my 50” tv and one in a bar top arcade.

Caveats are though that you should be aware of what they are capable of. They are great for old arcade games and consoles up to the n64. Some reviews state that they do run n64 games and some will fun very well, other are not good goldeneye is bad for example, but Mario64 is excellent. Again it emulates PlayStation 1 well but some games don’t play well. For more demanding consoles (PSP, Dreamcast, Naomi GDI) invest a bit more and get an Odroid XU4.

Having said that I love my Pi(s) am use them a lot.

Perfect upgrade from an old Pi

Love the thing, lots faster and more powerful. So good I'm now going to turn it into an arcade machine. The only thing to be aware of is that it needs a good power supply otherwise it won't work properly. I tried a few heavy duty ones that I had and it didn't like them so bought an official one and now have no problems at all. If you are thinking of getting a Pi take this into account and order the proper power supply at the same time to save you a lot of hassle.

An excellent base for many projects

I've been working with Raspberry pi computers since the first version and bought this one to help monitor my 3d printers. As with all the Raspberry pi equipment, it's well designed, well priced and is great for education and mini home projects. This particular box doesn't come with a USB charger - which is fine I have many so could save a few quid.Just make sure if you're planning to use your own USB adapter it is rated at 2.5amps (a lot of older ones aren't).

Fantastic Computer for Home Automation and IoT (and loads of other stuff)

I love the raspberry Pi3 B+. If you want to get into home automation this is the Pi to start with. In fact the Pi is so versatile it can be used for so many applications. Just look at the official Pi site or you tube to be totally motivated.A good tip, Don't use any old power supply, get one designed for the Pi. So many obscure problems occur with an underpowered psu.I am actually running the monitoring for a 5.4Kwh solar power installation and many other IoT devices on this Pi and the cpu is not even hitting 1% load.

      Stops working after few usages

I have bought two, TWO RASPBERRY PI's both of them stopped working in a couple of months time... I always have them on a box that was 3D printed and never left its place, however it keeps breaking on me.... Meanwhile I have a raspberry pi zero that I bought a year ago and it is still working to this date! (bought at pimoroni)... This is a joke... 60£ spent in total (first bought one who broke and then bought this replacement)One of the Raspberries stopped showing image, as for the other one it stays with a red LED on and doesn't do anything (with an operating system installed......)

£35 quid an you've got your self a computer to get on the web, productivity, media serve and so m...

I had the original PI and it to be honest just sat on my desk unused after it's initial boot up as i had to have externals plugged in to get it all working on wifi etc. This version though i so much better, it punchy and has the wifi etc built in. It's been tasked as a low power media centre and Network Storage box and doesn't break a sweat. It has me impressed what you can do on the £35 quid machine! Awesome!.

Good product but power and software problems

I bought a 2.5a official raspberry pi adapter for this thinking it would be enough. The pi works but with a lightening icon at the top right had side. To get rid of this I have to but a 3a raspberry pi power supply. Considering with the pi 3 I’ve had it running with a 2a adapter and it ran a screen and a few other things with no power problem. The other thing was the software. You do need the newer software for it to work. No pi 3 sd images will work on the this as they’ve changed the way it boots. I’ve found that annoying as well as the power problem. Once you get it up and running it’s runs fast and it’s the same top build quality as you’d expect from a raspberry pi.
