Universal USB receiver was not included

The Universal USB receiver was not included in the packaging making the item non-operational. (Yes I checked both the keyboard and mouse battery cell compartments for the USB receiver. Looking at the reviews, there are several other reports of the same problem (Logitech's packaging check problem not BargainFox). I received very helpful support from BargainFox online chat (Yamini P.) arranged full replacement. Update: replacement product arrived quickly; next day. Keyboard and mouse comfy. Plug and play worked quickly. Be mindful that the usb receiver is in a slot attached to a box fold next to the mouse. It is not in any packaging and if not carefully opened, it could be damaged or lost.

The keyboard is fine, the mouse however is...

The keyboard is fine, the mouse however is complete rubbish. It looses signal very easy, only 4 feet away it gets stuttery/jumpy, not to mention its extremely small and far too light.

However the keyboard makes up for how rubbish the mouse is.

I've bought 2 of these in the last 3 or 4 months, 1 for me and 1 for my father.

If you want a good budget wireless keyboard and mouse I recommend you buy this keyboard and mouse, throw the mouse away and buy the G305 wireless mouse (The G305 is again not the best but it's far better than that thing that came with the keyboard and not stupidly as expensive as the G900 or G903 but if you have the money get the G900 it's the best you can get, the G903 is the same as the G900 just has induction charging for charging via that silly mouse mat).

Good keyboard and mouse at value

The keyboard is great, i mainly use a laptop at my desk but needed a keyboard instead and i found this at a great price. battery life and the keyboard feel is good. it has all the usual keys with some extra volume/play/pause buttons at the top - a useful extra if you need them.As for the mouse, i found it a little small in the hand, it is definetly smaller than my previous wired in microsoft mouse that was of a "standard" size. Working from home a lot makes this a smaller annoyance rather than a deal breaker though. That said, my young son finds this easier to hold whilst doing his homework.

      Keyboard fine: mouse dodgy

The keyboard is fine, comfortable and smooth to use so well recommended but the mouse is a different animal(!).When it works it is fine but, unfortunately, it freezes and won't work at all for a minute or so. I have tried it on my desk and on a mouse mat - same results. Fortunately I have another mouse, different make, which works fine but it means two receivers in the computer, which uses up a USB port.Incidentally, there is a warning about the security of the Logitec dongle for this keyboard and mouse but a fix is available.

Poor wireless range & no Numlock indicator.

Mouse needs to be within 30cm of its USB wireless adapter to be sure it will work correctly.
My supplied mouse had a little stuck-on badge on its side which fell off, leaving a shallow but sharp-sided 'dug-out' just where my 4th finger grips the side, quite uncomfortable (I'm left-handed).
Keyboard is low-quality, noisy keys and the whole frame flexes. No 'Numlock' indicator, so you have to guess if the side keypad will give numbers or navigation responses.
I bought a wired Dell KB216 keyboard to replace this, better in every way - much quieter, solid frame, better spacing between keys.
As for the mouse, I've replaced it for now with an ancient Logitech RX250 (wired) which is far better, works beautifully.
For me, Logitech's past reputation for quality is now trashed, I'll be avoiding them from now on, I resent paying a higher price for what turns out to be "meh" quality products.

      Positioning is critical

I'm am on my second keyboard in 2 weeks - the first one worked for only a few hours. The replacement is fairing better. The keyboard is well laid out and appears well constructed. One thing I have learnt us that the 30 feet wirless conection is not valid. In fact the keyboard will only work when the USB dongle is in complete line of sight. I have my monitors on my desk with my workstation at the side of the desk - less than two feet away. The operation of the keystrokes was very intermittent and extremely frustrating. I tried everything - replaced batteries, re-installed, changed USB ports - nothing made any difference. Prior to returning to BargainFox I decided on one last attempt and moved the workstation to the same level as the keyboard with the USB dongle in direct line (still only two foot away. Success - it was like getting a new keyboard. It now works perfectly. One final note - I had contacted Logitech and logged a support call. Sadly it took them several days to respond by email and their advice was less than helpful - I got much better help from BargainFox customer services. I cannot comment on battery life as I have not had the items long enough. Overall I would not recommend this product as it does not live up to the Logitech product description and there were no instructions with it, nor have I discovered a way to check remaining battery life

Keyboard & mouse with great wireless connectivity

I was a little concerned whether or not to buy this keyboard & mouse, because a number of reviews had mentioned poor wireless connectivity, I can only assume they must have had a faulty one, or the location of the USB adaptor was in a position where it was affected by something else. In the few weeks that I have had my product, it has never failed or missed a any keyboard or mouse input. My keyboard & mouse are 1m away from my computer & USB adaptor. The only minor problem I have experienced, is getting used to the new keyboard, on my old laptop the keys were spaced apart and had a very low profile, whereas this new key board is more like most key boards out there, the keys are closer to each other, and have to be pressed in further to register, and consequently it has taken some getting use to, and I still occasionally hit two keys at the same time. I am almost there though.

Good Concept, Impractical Outcome. See pictures for the reasons why

I wanted to make the switch to wireless to declutter my workstation. I was previously using a Dell wired keyboard and I loved it. I have attached photos so you can compare and understand why I rated this keyboard a 3.

My main priority when choosing a keyboard was for it to be ergonomic with decent space between keys. Unfortunately this keybaord is very good at all the less important things and really fails when it comes to the things that shape the typing experience.

If you view the images I have attached, you can clearly see the LACK of "scoop" as compared to the normal Dell keyboard. The scoop is so minimal on the MK540 it really doesnt feel like its cupping your fingertips at all. But the main culprit is the smoothed edges. When you are typing you need to feel a clear distinction between the keys on your fingers, so why would you SMOOTH the edges? It's simply too easy to press 2 keys together when they are smoothed and this leads to constant error key strokes.

Finally the distance between the keys is just abysmal. The keys are so close together you can run your fingers over the keys like a piano and its just smooth. If you have any doubt about this, take a look at my image that shows both keyboards adjacent to each other. The Dell keyboard is way Longer due the substantially larger space between keys.

Overall I'm not happy and wish I had gone with another keyboard. One that feels more like a mechanical keyboard. The only good thing about this keyboard is the build quality and dedicated buttons for volume and calculator etc.

As with all things, I'm sure after a few months of practice I'll perfect typing on it, but if you're looking for something ergonomic and fun to type on, look elsewhere.

OH and the mouse... is not great. Mainly because the right mouse button has a hair trigger. If you just rest your hand on it it keeps getting pressed, if you move the mouse from left to right that added pressure also presses the button. I can't stress enough how easy it is to push that button. I'm considering deactivating it and mapping the scroller button to context menu instead.
Other than that it works well, but that button is SUPER annoying.

      Terrible Feel, Mouse too small.

I purchased this set, thinking it would be good as it is Logitech's mid range. I was extremely disappointed. I type fairly quickly and can generally go from keyboard to keyboard with no issue (work in IT). Not this one, it's almost like using an old mechanical keyboard, the keys have to be pressed firmly and there is a lot of travel before keys are acknowledged. The mouse was also very small, holding the mouse was difficult due to the indents, my hands are not very big, but this made it uncomfortable to use. On the plus the wireless side of it works really well for the short time I tried to work with it. I returned it immediately after typing a few sentences.
