First off, this Vax sure does suck! In a good way. If you're mostly after an upright cleaner to zoom over carpets & floors it's a pretty good choice.
Sadly, that's kind of where the positives screech to a halt. While I can forgive the machine from feeling very 'plasticcy' and a bit cheap (after all, it WAS pretty cheap!), it really doesn't come close to the excellence of a Dyson cleaner, but obviously this is reflected in the price - I didn't want to fork out the ridiculous sum a Dyson costs on this occasion, hence the Vax purchase. But Vax should be capable of designing a machine far better than this by now!
A big consideration to bare in mind is that if you want to use the hose option on a regular basis, you'll be disappointed. The VERY SHORT hose is positioned at floor level and this is where it has to stay while you struggle to make use of it with the various attachments. Pretty hopeless, I'm afraid.
The 'push & pull when upright' handle is not ergonomic and really quite uncomfortable on the hand, rigid, hard plastic and not user friendly at all.
Another very irritating error is the positioning of the power cord. This is positioned at the base of the machine, so you spend your whole time reaching down to grab it in order to move the cord out of the way. It has a small pointless hook under the handle you're meant to use to bring the cable up to user height but it just falls off this the entire time - I got so fed up with this I ended up putting a knot in the cable and attached it permanently to the useless hook... which obviously makes the power cord shorter.
