Can't go wrong with Sandisk for products like this

Yet another Sandisk memory stick to my collection.

Have many through the years, even the oldest ones still work fine.

This is tiny, purchased for a NAS box i built out of an old desktop computer i have. It's a snug fit, good performance, a whole 32GB of system & a nice price. Can't ask for more really. Only bottleneck is myself as i've used a computer with no USB3 option so it's running USB2.0 but since it only needs to boot the NAS system, it works well for me.

Due to many "fake" versions flooding the market, i do try to purchase memory cards & sticks from Bargain Fox itself & so far i have had no issues.

      Can definitely recommend

      tiny, but good.

to be honest, i was a but wary after reading some reviews about it overheating. however i’ve had no such problems with it myself. i bought it to use for playing mp3’s in the car which has a USB media slot. i spent about ½hr or so mass copying music onto it from the pc, and it didn’t even feel warm when i finished. since then its been left plugged into the car and again no problem with it getting warm, let alone hot. no trouble with it so far playing mp3’s on shuffle for hours while driving. and a bargain price for 32gb. i can load all the music i need on one stick, and its tiny so doesn’t protrude much from the USB slot and get in the way of anything.

awful drive - painfully slow write times. Will take OVER a day to fill!!!

this is without doubt the worst usb drive I have ever owned. Purchased 2 for Sony Playstation classic. Wrote images to them both on my windows 10 PC - both around 90gb. Write times are well below 1mb/s so takes well over a day to write to the disk. gets incredibly hot too.I cant recommend this drive

      Quick and reliable

This is a brilliant little flash drive to use with a laptop or PC. Indeed, its so small, I can leave it plugged in to my Huawei MateBook when I travel and commute. It is a bit of a tight fit but its not a problem and at least it won't fall out or give errors if touched.

I did a couple of quick checks with h2testw and CrystalDiskMark (see photo). I won't bore you with the gory details. Suffice to say that when connected to a USB 3.1 port, it performs as expected - even after a period of sustained use.

When heavily used, it can get warm to the touch but not hot. Indeed, its well within its specifications (which, temperature wise, are quite generous). I suspect it uses the USB socket and laptop casing to dissipate some of the heat. My MateBook is aluminium which may explain why it runs cooler for me when compared with other reviewers.

I'm not so sure about the small slot for attaching the device to a keyring or lanyard. IMHO it looks a tad flimsy. However, as I tend to leave it plugged in, that's not really an issue for me.

Thus far, this little device has proved reliable and performed without a hiccup. Time will tell as there's little point in having a storage device you can't depend on!
      Fingers crossed.......

      UPDATE, November 2020.
I have now also purchased the 512GB version as it was on a special Bargain Fox deal at £54. It also works well as advertised - again, I'm chuffed!

Excellent boost to storage on Mac

Super fast and compact thumb drive - great way to cheaply and efficiently boost storage on a modern Mac.

I needed a good amount of storage for video editing on my Macook Pro.

The alternatives are plug in hard drives which are expensive and very bulky. This 512Gb USB stick was perfect,

I keep all the large video files on it and edit with Final Cut Pro ... they play as well as if they were on the Mac’s internal SSD.

Not had any problems - totally reliable and ready to use. With cheap drives from lesser brands you can get an annoying thing where the drive disconnects itself or is not always recognised, never had that with thus product .

Only improvement I can suggest would be even larger capacity one day ... I waited & waited for the 512Gb to be released.

And it only poked out the side of the laptop a little .. if they could make it even slimmer snd smoother edged that would be brilliant - I leave it plugged in all the time.

      disapointing

Over a short amount of time all my files beacme currupt, (I had back ups of all data thankfully) and after reformatting the drive it got locked to 56MB which was odd.
I made sure there were no hidden partitions, which there were, and when it came to deleting the second larger partition, I kept getting a drive failure message.

After a short amount of time trouble shooting I was able to get it to be one partition but was still unable to get it to remove the current alloacted file system. same error from before.

This was cheap, tiny and had okay review, so I thought it would be okay for my use case but sadly it failed (more like became useless) after three days.

If you want something that's going to last, get something from Kingston or Intergral. Their flash drives just seem to last longer with less Quality control issues. The price for those can be a tiny bit higher and you may not find really tiny ones like this one from them, but its honestly worth it. I have loads of 32GB Kingston flash drives that I use and sometimes give to friends, and they've not failed yet! Not a single one has failed!

In the past I've had 7 Sand Disk USB drives of all different types and capacities with the same result after a short while of using them. They fail, and its extramly annoying due to the time sensitive projects I tend to do at home that require or benefit from using a flash drive.

      Thanks for reading!

Does what it needs to do well - but think about how you will want to use it.

OK - firstly it is a nice, fast external drive. I have the 128GB version and for file storage it's great. I want to use it as an occasional use device to transfer files or save them when needing to take stuff off my hard drive. It's small. Barely longer than my thumbnail. Two issues here - 1) it's small and neat, which for me is good 2) it could be easy to misplace. Your call as to whether you prefer something longer if you are considering this. There is no cap over the USB connector - but I don't see that as a problem, just saying. If you are going to need dust protection this may be a factor. There is a very narrow slot that enables you to put it on a keyring - which is what I wanted to do so I always have it with me and don't need to go looking for it in a bag etc. However, this part is plastic and I don't know yet (only been using it a few days) how robust that will be when in a pocket and the device gets a bit of rough handling - there is zero movement in the slot now it's on the keyring (it's pressing against the metal of the ring so need to be gentle in folding the keys away to insert it in the laptop socket) so I could see it snapping which would be a bad thing for ensuring it stays safe and then it would make it harder to keep handy all the time on travels. since the device itself is so small, keeping track of where it is in pockets or bags will be harder. But for now it's on the keyring and I highlight a potential problem, not at present an actual one. If I bought again I might prefer to go for a longer unit, but then one gets the problem of another bulkier thing to have on a keyring. Pros and cons of first world problems, eh? :-)The preloaded software for creating a SecureVault for files stored on the drive is easy to use, if you want or need to use it. Enables a robust password that protects access to files you store there. If you want to delete this feature it's also easy. I removed it to begin with as I needed to update Navigation software in my car and the vehicle seemed to have difficulty finding the files if not in the root directory, so I took off all the pre-loaded files, did the nav software update and then reinstalled the SanDisk stuff. All easy. No other spamware, trial software or other stuff included (which isn't the case with some removable drives. So good for SanDisk there). So think about what you need in a portable drive - performance is great. Is the hardware right for your purpose? For me, a better keyring hook, probably metal, would make it perfect.

      Dead after a 2 months

Literally dead device a little over 2 months after buying it. Was not even unplugged once from the device it was plugged into, wasn't even used that much, it just died. Absolutely appalling quality control.

Not really USB 3, more like USB 2 in real world use.

Like many others have said, this thing gets hot very quickly. Personally I've had no issue when plugged into my laptops USB 2 port and I can transfer as much as I want for as long as I want. In USB 2, it only gets warm.

When used in a USB 3 port, however, this is a different story. The whole point of USB 3 is to transfer large amounts of data quickly. However, if the device overheats and has to throttle itself due to heat, it isn't going to transfer at USB 3 speeds for very long. This thing does overheat and does throttle itself to much lower speeds when hot.

If you are going to consider buying this, consider it a USB 2 device, not USB 3. For me personally, it makes little difference as I bought it due to its small form factor as it will take up less space plugged in to the car USB port. If you want true USB 3 speed for large amounts of data, buy something else (likely a larger device that can dissipate heat more effectively).
