Took two readings before painting my nails, two after, nearly every time I step on these scales within the same period of time they give a completely different reading.

Had me all happy thinking I had lost loads ...then realised, they are just not very good.

I thought that being Salter would mean they are quality. The design is lovely, and they show in stones, pounds and kilos .... but if not reliable, what is the point?

There's only one thing I want scales to do - and these don't do it. The readings fluctuate wildly within minutes so there's no chance of being able to monitor your weight accurately. I need to move my scales out of the way in betwen weighing but there is no warning that that would affect their efficiency and previous scales have coped perfectly well with the change. Definitely no recommendation. I had to give it one star as posting this review isn't allowed if that section isn't entered, otherwise it would have been nil.

Recently began a weight loss campaign and picked these up to record it. Week one all seemed fine but the following weeks when I noticed the problem. I stepped on the scale after a week of strict diet and exercise to find id put ON a stone! Tried again and lost 6 lb then 10lb then put on 4lb! Catch my drift?Totally inaccurate and thus useless, I'd already thrown out the box and packaging or if have sent them back. I chose these as I formally trusted the manufacturers name but no more! Avoid these like the plague.

I bought these scales less than a year ago. This morning I picked them up to move them to hoover behind them and they shattered in my hand. Luckily I hardly ever use them or I would hate to think what would’ve happened to my feet if I had stood on them and they had shattered like this! Very dangerous!

12/8/19 I will update this review when I have used it a while. Instructions for use and for setting the right weight measures are awful. It has taken my friend and I a couple of hours to search reviews and questions to find out you PRESS THE UNIT BUTTON on the base of the machine to RESET / RE - INITIALISE it, AND to toggle through the weight format. EG between Kilos and stones and lbs! Seems easy once you know, but SO SO frustration when you dont. !!

Clean design, includes a lithium coin cell and very reproducable over several measurements. To turn on the scale, simply step on it (it does take a reasonable weight to trigger it). If you briefly step on to wake it up, the scale will then auto-zero. Step back on and it will take a reading for a second or two before flashing the display and showing the final result. The display then turns off after about 10s.We tried it first on a cushioned tile "hard" floor in the kitchen and it was extremely accurate (when compared to a recent measurement at our GP surgery). However trying it out the box on even low pile carpet it gave a significantly lower reading of between 5-10kg. I was aware this would happen which is why I chose this scale as including carpet feet. I expected carpet feet to be included in the box (as in the description and with many Salter scales) but there weren't any and no mention on the box or instructions. This was my reason for chosing this scale so I was initially very disappointed and I've knocked a star off for this reason. However I eventually placed the scales on a solid square piece of wood (see photo) which has solved the measurement problem. The MDF base ensures the sensors don't sink into the carpet and it now works perfectly in the bedroom, so useful tip if you have the same problem. The wood I used was from an old piece of well known Swedish furniture, but I'm sure any solid piece of 10mm or thicker MDF will do the trick.Overall a no frills but well made and accurate scales. Doubt I'll need to make use of the 15 year warranty but it inspires confidence in the product. There's also a small switch on the underside next to the battery compartment if you want to switch units to stone/lbs. Eco friendly packaging (apart from the plastic bag to protect it in the box) so overall a good buy and well recommended, as long as you don't mind placing it on a hard surface. No carpet feet included!

Originally I was quiet angry as these seemed to be inaccurate but I followed instructions and reset it and leave them in one spot on a marble floor in my bathroom and they seem to now be working well for me. I advise one thing do not stand on the scales and move your head to look down as this will give multiple different readings. Stand still face forward wait a few seconds and stand off to get a reading that's accurate. These are very pleasing to look at .

Really good set of scales, affordable and really accurate - as most others I read A LOT of product reviews before deciding which scales to buy and all I can say is when people complain about the accuracy reading being off it begs for me to question whether they read the instruction booklet included. If you move it around, you are meant to initialise it each time! Which only takes 2 seconds to do!Really happy with this product and would recommend 👍🏻

Worst bathroom scale ever!!! How should I put this...hmmmm if you wish to give someone a heart attack than buy this for them! The accuracy is absolutely 0 , in a matter of minutes the difference in kgs is massive, before I washed my hands 70.1kg after washing my hands 74.2 hmmmmmm either in my bathroom is some sort of twilight zone or this scale is just messing around. I wish I could say that this happened once, but nope it was every day! In other words, WAIST of money , not to mention that it really confused me and got me into dieting the second day! Not funny at all.

These scales are accurate and easy to set up and use, and look good too. The readout is easy to see as the numbers are a good size. Being able to step off them and still be able to see the reading for a few seconds is a handy feature too. Can't really comment on battery life or durability as I've only had them a couple of weeks. But as they come with a 15yr guarantee I imagine both would be fine.
