Works accurately

Bought this to replace a more expensive one which gave up the ghost after only a couple of years. It seems to measure bp accurately and is easy to use. For me, the problem is the cuff, which I find very uncomfortable and which pinches my upper arm. I do not have huge arms and my husband uses it with no problem, so I presume it is a bit wide for the length of my upper arms. . It is so uncomfortable when inflated that I am in quite serious pain and my blood pressure rises because it jut plain hurts. I'll persist through the agony and see if I can find a solution.May 2020. I did persist and found that it ceased to hurt if I put the cuff a little lower on my arm, next to the elbow, which prevented the metal from digging into my arm. Still using it and finding it accurate.I have also bought a second one for a neighbour, wh finds that it works accurately in sync with the identical model used in her doctor's office.

Useful machine for home use

Needed to do my blood pressure for the doctors for a few weeks and this machine did the job. Pretty simple to use and quite accurate I think (nothing to say it isn’t). Only thing I found was that the first reading always seemed very high so I leave for 5 minutes and then re-do which then gives a different result (usually a bit lower). This reading seemed more in line with what I expected. Just make sure you position the cuff correctly to get best results.

This is the perfect home blood pressure monitor for non professionals

I previously ordered another make which was slightly more expensive and had to return it as it didn’t work correctly. This one arrived this morning and it is perfect to use at home. No setting up required just put in the batteries (provided) follow the instructions re applying the cuff to your upper arm, connect the cuff to the monitor and press go. I am a retired nurse and I fully recommend this B/P monitor for those who want to keep an eye on their blood pressure. It even comes with a record chart should you need to keep a record to show your Doctor. Five stars from me

This is all you need for your BP check

Excellent price and used the same basic brand in the care setting. Ensure you do not put the pressure Velcro’s too tight, otherwise when taking your BP, it will not stop and therefore gets tighter and tighter, so you have to whip it off quickly. This happens on majority of machines as used several over 36 years of working in the care setting. Simple to use and comes with a bag to keep it from getting damaged. Battery does appear although it’s half full, but that’s normal and does not mean it’s going to be dead. So fine in other words. Arrived on time with no issues.

This device does not seem happy with rechargeable batteries and no memory

This was a Which Best Buy but my purchase has fallen short of expectations. I purchased this monitor because I was losing confidence in a Lloyds Pharmaceutical device that I bought some years ago. In fact the readings are not dissimilar.
It is far too simplistic to talk of accuracy in relation to these monitors. An accurate measurement is very complex but, what could be useful, is reproducibility which might allow one to detect trends.

As stated in the headline, this unit shows low battery when using rechargeables, not mentioned by Which? tests, although it does seem to work with rechargeables, but not for long.
The count down on the machine is quite quick, which is a bonus, but there is effectively no memory compared with the 60 retained results of the Lloyds machine.
Altogether I was rather disappointed.

The accuracy of the monitor

I bought this product in February 2019 to check my blood pressure and at first it seemed to be working well and giving correct readings, however in the last10 days it was showing readings of approximately 147/88 to 153/96 at pulse rates varying between 59and74. Yesterday morning at about 10 o'clock my blood pressure was checked by paramedics in an emergency ambulance at a reading of 200/100 . My monitor showed a reading 148/88 . The paramedics were of the opinion that the monitor was faulty or needed to be re-calibrated, and for that reason should not relied upon. Hence the 2 stars for accuracy. As it still under guarantee I would like to return it for a replacement.

Simple to setup and use and comes with batteries!

Had a regular checkup at the supermarket for my life insurance provider and I was diagnosed with borderline high blood pressure 140/93. Spoke to the pharmacist and was referred to my GP. Now you can't make a GP appointment nowadays (they are all booked up plain insanity), you have to wait to see the same day team, so rather than sit in the waiting room for hours I thought I'd double check by getting one of these.

Easy to use. Open the box, insert the batteries (which are included, you don't get that often nowadays), plug the tube into the box, slip on the cuff (make sure it's the right way up), tighten (not too tight) and press the button. Hey presto in under 30 seconds you've got your Systolic/Diastolic readings and your pulse rate. It doesn't do anything else, but what else do you really need?

The top of the cuff is the widest (for above your bicep), fully open it's going to wrap around a 40cm arm and the narrowest bit (near your elbow) is about 34cm fully open.

Oh and I'm fine btw. The supermarket had the aircon up to max that day and I was chilly. It turns out that can affect readings but neither the pharmacist or the practitioner mentioned the fact. Blood pressure readings are obviously a little unreliable, get one of these and you can check whenever you like and keep your own diary!

Simple to use

We have a discontinued Omron MX2, but wasn't sure if it was still accurate after many years of service. We then borrowed a year old M2 Basic from a relative and noticed both monitors didn't agree.Grabbed a new M2 Basic during Day and compare it with the old MX2 and year old M2. Both M2 reported similar readings, but the old MX2 was reading a tad high. The cuff supplied with the M2 Basic is not as wide as the MX2. This is a good thing especially if you have short arms.Only criticism we can make about both M2 Basic units, is the rubber hose is not a tight fit when inserted into the main unit unlike the old MX2. It looks like it wants to try and pop off in normal use.

Seems as good as the GP's version

This seems to work just as well as the ones in our GP surgery, I actually compared readings. It's a great confidence booster for someone who has high blood pressure and needs to keep an eye on it. I also bought the wrist version, thinking it would be easier to use, so I'd use it more often. In practice, I don't think I needed both, the wrist version is probably a bit less consistent, so I use the arm version most. But either are good.

regular reassurance

As I approach retirement age I know it's important to check blood pressure regularly. This does the job at a sensible and affordable price.Depending on where you place it on your arm, you can get slightly different results if you do the test 3 or 4 times in the same session, but the differences are slight. I'm confident it will show any significant changes away from the healthy range.I check every 3 or 4 weeks, and also check my wife. I record the results on a phone app so I can see long term trends and changes.
