My mum’s hearing is not so great and she watches a lot of television. Every 2 years, for the past 10 years, I buy her a set of headphones for use with the television. I bought these for Christmas 2014 – and for the first time, I don’t need to replace them yet! We’ve tried a variety of models, and although the Sony ones have always suited her best, this particular model is a hands down winner.
The two main considerations for use for my mum are sound quality and comfort. She finds the sound quality excellent – no discernible hiss, like some other reviewers have stated. The comfort issue has always been the problem in the past – the headphones are large, and she wears them for several hours a day. But these are so comfortable, that I have found her in other parts of the house, doing other things, still wearing the headphones, as she had forgotten she had them on…
If we are watching something together, she will still use the headphones – they don’t cut the sound from the television speakers. They block out all external noise, and sitting next to her, if she has the television volume off, I can’t hear anything coming out of the headphones. They use rechargeable batteries, so she watches in the day and charges overnight.
For the purpose of a hard of hearing person, watching the television, these have been excellent, and after nearly two years’ continuous use, they are still going strong.
