This dog coat is really thick and warm and a good fit. My dog has a large barrel chest so not all coats fit him. This Muddy Paws coat does fit.I have bought one of these coats 2 years ago for my dog and it is still good now, warm and waterproof even after countless washes . So when I bought a new coat the Muddy Paws coat is always my first choice.Thank you Ancol. I will always buy these coats.

Bought this coat for my 18 kg staffie to protect him on real cold/windy days. It's quite long but the medium would have been too short and wouldn't have fit around his belly. He really didn't like the elastic around his rear legs which seemed to push the coat down over his tail and the first time we went out he put the brakes on and refused to walk! So I took his legs out of the elastic and just left the coat loose at the back and he was a lot happier. Overall a decent coat.

My Labradoodle is 22kg in weight and has a large chest, although the XL measurement for length was correct the strap round his chest was too short to be comfy. The XXL is slightly long but fits well otherwise. It has a slot for a lead when wearing a halter which can be zipped closed if just using a collar. It has reflective beading which is great when out in the dark.It is soft and warm but with a waterproof outer layer, the larger chest coverage is excellent as it stops most of the ‘undercarriage’ from getting muddy.A great coat definitely recommend

Absolutely useless!

This fits our 1 year old English Springer Spaniel bitch perfect (Size Large) with no complaints from her at all (never worn a coat till now but needs one at the moment due to an abdominal wound)

The strap doesn't accommodate a 'lean' field dog as it has a lot of excess flopping about which is annoying so I may need to address that by stitching some extra velcro on. The elasticated back leg loops are okay but if they were to snap then the coat is useless.

The weak point really is that it is made of cheap materials and the stitching is rather poor, this is definitely not what you would call a 'quality' item. The upper material is very thin and flimsy and would almost certainly tear easily if you have a field dog that likes to charge off into bushes (typical Springer!) and I honestly don't expect this to last more than a few weeks so we shall see. However, it is not expensive so I can live with that and may upgrade to something more fancy if needs be.

All in all, it'll do the job but don't expect much from it.

EDIT: As predicted; the upper material tore within two weeks and one of the elastic leg loops snapped. Don't bother with this unless it's just an interim measure.

Got for 6 month cavapoo. Nice and light weight with a warm fleece inner lining. Very easy to fit,just pops over head with under part that comes up and around middle and fastens with velcro on top.Two holes on top to enable lead fit to either collar or harness beneath. The harness opening can be closed with zip if desired.It also has to elastic rear leg straps to help keep in place.I really like it,it's warm but not too much where he'd get overheated if out for a walk. Has kept rain off well,but haven't been out in any major downpours yet. I love how easy it is to fit working well with his existing harness,so I don't have to adjust anything,it just goes over keeping it dry as well.The only thing I might have liked is if it had a hood option.

Bought this for my border collie for the winter walks. Unfortunately the shape and sizing is just not right - at all! We tried one size up and she drowns in it, so we then tried the L and its no where near long enough to cover her back end! Although the quality of the materials etc are all excellent and delivery was on time, I wont be ordering again as I've tried several sizes now and nothing is the right shape or size for my dog.

The coat is easy to put on and is weatherproof for light showers, however considering I ordered the right size (after measuring my dog and reading suggestions on others reviews), I was a little disappointed with the coverage.The coat comes to the base of my dogs tail which is fine, but doesn't hang down very far on his sides - not only that the fur around his neck is still totally exposed even after trying to adjust things. I would say he's only covered 50% (or less). I'd like to send it back and get a refund, but I'm sure as he has now tried & tested it out on a rainy walk that won't be acceptable. I now need to fork out for another coat which I'm not very pleased about.I would recommend shopping around and take your dog for a fitting ( I know this is possible at Pets at Home, which is now my next step)

We did exactly what it said on the description, remeasured our dog twice (Lab/Collie X), the coat is nicely made, lightweight and decent weatherproofing BUT will not stay on even when we tighten the Velcro band to its limit. The front chest bar falls down all the time and the coat moves backward. Also, the harness hole has only 1 zip, so you cannot centre or arrange as you would like as with his other coat that has 2 zips on the slot. Was going to send it back but by the time you pay the postage and they deduct money because he wore it twice, it is more aggro than it’s worth. Consigned to the cupboard, waste of time, effort and money. VERY DISAPPOINTED - WOULD NOT BUY ANOTHER COAT FROM THIS COMPANY, DESPITE HAVING A GOOD NAME AND REPUTATION.

This is the 3rd Muddy Paws coat I've bought and my fourth Ancol coat. This one is for my mum's 1yr old Cocker and whilst he loves getting wet he's a pain to get dry, so I suggested this coat. It's not as warm as the parka version, but then it's intended for keeping them drier and cleaner than without a coat, which it does well.I find these coats are lightweight and the dogs are happy to wear them. They are easy to put on and take off and dry quickly if just hung over a radiator and most mud can then be brushed off.I became a fan of Ancol coats when trying to find a coat that could stand up to my nutty Vizsla puppy. He's now 4 years old and only on his second Muddy Paws coat. He did rip a small hole in his first but if he will run through a barbed-wire fence...In the current sub-zero temperatures he wears his Ancol Parka as it has a warmer fleece lining, but when it's just about rain or mud, which is far more frequently, then the Muddy Paws is the one we use.
