      Working well so far.

I bought this charger as a change from my normal Ctek charger.I use them on my WW2 jeep battery. My Ctek chargers usually last 4-5 years then give up the ghost. and this time they seemed to have had bad reviews online, so I thought I'd change. This charger is different as it shows that it is charging and then changes to 'full' and stays that way. The Ctek charger did a 'cycle' that was shown on the display - orange for cleaning/charging and then green for full, which I actually prefer - however, this charger is still 'working' so far. I haven't tried starting the jeep since I fitted the charger - so can't comment more than it seems to be charging.

What a brilliant piece of kit

I have a boat with a single battery for lights and instruments that's maintained by a solar panel during the season. I'm using this to maintain the battery over the winter months. Not constantly - on and off. Works exactly as expected. The first time I used it the battery had been left on the boat for a few months and was in ok condition but a bit discharged. This brought it back to full charge ready for the start of this season. I've waited 3 months before posting this to make sure the battery works as expected - no problems at all.

      Very good, but some suggestions:

Seems to be working well (1st time using it).
It comes with a useful extra connecting lead which can be permanently attached to the battery to avoid fiddling around next time - snag is, there's only one, but most households have two cars. I can't see a way of buying an extra connector for the second car.

The packing is basic, you'll want a better box/bag to keep it in.

The symbols on the buttons could be misinterpreted by some - the symbols look like the conventional "play" and "stop" symbols, yet the triangular "play" button changes voltage and the one with the round symbol (which usually means "stop") actually starts charging. It's clear enough if you read and memorise the instructions - we all do that, right?

This works really well - good value

My sister does not use car very much in winter and because the car has an alarm fitted there is a constant drain on the battery and usually her car will not start ( despite almost new battery ) without one of those booster packs. I fitted one of these inside her porch and routed a 12foot ( KUNCAN SAE to SAE ) extension lead with SAE plugs out through the wall and onto her driveway ( It is safe as only 12 volts ), The fused lead supplied with charger fitted onto the battery terminal clamp leads and the SAE plug routed out through lower part of front grille, so not necessary to lift the bonnet to connect ( the SAE plug has a waterproof clip on cover when not connected ). It charged an almost flat 65a/h battery in a couple of days and the indicator light on charger went green - now the car starts every time without a problem. Be aware that if you car has an alarm fitted it will constantly drain the battery - sometimes in a little over a week - this product is excellent value for money, I have seen them 2 or 3 times the price of this one.

      Thoroughly recommended.

The power steering on my car would stiffen for a second intermittently. I took it back to the dealer and a technician drove with me in the car and experienced it himself. I left it with them and they found that the problem was the battery. At first I thought how could it be the battery? Well, the power steering is electric, and because I do very little mileage, the battery wasn't being charged sufficiently and was running on a too low voltage, this was made worse because, being winter, the wipers and blowers etc were being used a lot. So I bought this charger, I had faith in it as it's sold by the AA. It solved the issue immediately, I just left it on charge when it wasn't being used knowing that once it was fully charged it went into maintenance charge mode. It worked perfectly, my car now runs on the voltage it should and I've not had the problem since. As it's coming into spring now I don't need to charge it as there isn't the drain on it as there was with the blowers etc on all the time. I thoroughly recommend this, as I know that come winter again, it'll do it's job.

      Slow but otherwise good

2 hours charge from dead - car starts fine. To fully charge a dead 40AH battery as I have just done - 2 days! The 1A rating would explain this. You should buy a 6A charger if fast charging to is needed. This slow charge is good for topping-up or reconditioning a battery though. One other thing: On 1st occasion the battery could be charged in situ with car connected (as instructions allow). On 2nd occasion I got a fault light, would not charge. Removed the battery and took it indoors where it began to charge immediately.

Say goodbye to flat car batteries

It is only when you try to start a dead battery that you realise you should have been more attentive to maintaining it. With my seldom-used roadster, and periods of time travelling away, this charger/maintainer has been invaluable. I followed simple instructions to attach the leads direct to the battery terminals, then using plastic ties, secured the cable to an accessible quick attach/detach point on the vehicle. In doing this, I need not access the battery itself each time I put it to charge. The flow rate is managed to top-up and maintain a battery in peak condition, lengthening its life. Clearly, this product requires access to a mains electicity point, so is ideal for a garaged vehicle. For my street-parked car, I bought the solar version from AA, of which I am equally delighted.

      OK but lacks features

First of all, this is a good charger for the price and does what it says "on the tin" so I would recommend it. It will both charge up deflated batteries, and keep charged batteries topped-up (e.g. on cars where the internal electric use continuous if small amounts of energy). It also has an indicator for "damaged" batteries that it can't charge. It is easy to use and small, so easily portable. There are two types of connector: crocodile clips or screw on rings.

As for the negatives: there are only three status indicators: damaged, charging or topping up. This is the absolute minimum you need, and ideally it would be great to show how much residual charge is in the battery and an approximation of time left to full charge.

But as I said, it's great for the price and would recommend.

      Neat little battery conditioner.

Solid build, very easy to use, comes with the leads to allow a permanent mount, or the usual crocodile clips, good safety features throughout and an IP65 rating ... A small stuff sack would be useful addition to keep it all in .... Its a pity it didn’t come with one. I used the maintainer to charge my 12v generator battery, which I thought was doomed, and it worked perfectly, so it has paid for itself immediately. I can highly recommend.

Must have item at a great price

So I ended up needing to get one of these because I'm off work and stuck at home having broken my ankle in 2 places quite badly meaning I can't drive. Recovery time is about 3 months so I needed to make sure my BMW 5 Series stayed in a workable condition.

I've never had a battery charger or any trickle charger/maintainer before but someone mentioned I should get one so I went looking into it.

I checked a lot of different products including BMW own brand (and almost bought that for piece of mind) but then stumbled across this at almost 20% cheaper than most products of a similar nature, and it had decent reviews too, so I bought it.

On arrival, unpacking showed I have 2 connection options - croc clips for easy-to-remove connection to the +/- terminal points in the bonnet or actual clamps that screw on for a more "permanent" option. I went for the crocodile clips. The unit itself is tiny and IP65 rated to be used outside in fully waterproof and dustproof casing.

The lead was about 2m which was JUST enough to reach from my driveway into my kitchen window but I need to use an extension lead up to the window to get it to a power socket - the cable could have been a lot longer.

Connected up and following instructions - which were very easy to follow - I switched it on - it has a very simple panel - a circle button to switch power modes (it automatically selects 12V and my car needs 12V so did not touch this button at all), and a start play button.

If at this point you've not connected the Battery Maintainer up correctly it apparently will beep loudly to let you know and one of the lights on the unit lights up RED.

It spends the first few hours after hitting play button it assesses the condition of the battery before moving to a trickle charge mode. It took almost 2 days but it slowly charged my battery back to 100% and in the morning on the second day I heard a beep outside - that was the unit telling me it's charged.

At this point the unit changes itself to a FLOAT mode. This keeps the battery at 100% condition very carefully using minimal power to do so - I've left the unit for a week now on this setting. This will help desuplhur the battery too as when left to run low, sulphur can build up and damage the efficiency of the battery.

This is a great piece of kit all round. It is keeping my battery maintained in perfect condition while I'm unable to drive it for 3mths giving me piece of mind and a worthy investment as it's something I should have bought years ago!

The only negative is the lead being only around 2m (1m each side of the unit) - it should be at least twice that length in my opinion, though if you have a garage with a plug point inside it wouldn't be an issue.
