Very good for speech -- not so good for music but excellent value for money

I bought this mainly for use in online chats and conferences, e.g. using whereby.com or zoom, on my linux PC (running Fedora 32). For that purpose this is excellent: the mic is significantly better than typical webcam mics (or mic built int a laptop lid), and provided that other participants speak clearly using a good mic, the speech quality is excellent. But I also like to listen to (mainly classical) music and understandably the headset is tolerable but not excellent: hence the four stars for sound quality. I expect getting good orchestral sounds using a plugin headset would require something much more costly. This cost me only £27.50: excellent value for money. On the chord there is a plastic gadget that includes a 'mute' button. It mutes the microphone so that what you say is not broadcast. There is also a volume control, labelled '-' at top and '+' at bottom. On my wife's windows 10 machine that works perfectly, but not (yet) on my linux PC: I'll have to set up an extra 'button-press-detect' facility, which I have not yet done.I've done something like that in the past on a linux laptop, so I know it can be done: but for now I just use a mouse-controlled slider on the screen to adjust volume. Summary: excellent value for money, especially for online chats and conference calls.

Very good quality for the price, though not without its drawbacks. Does not include an audio mute...

Very comfortable to wear, the H390 looks the business, with faux-leather earcups and a padded headband. The USB connector is rather long and tends to get knocked; not ideal when listening to music on a laptop!

The sound quality is noticeably different to Logitech's older capacitive headphones, and I had to swap back and forth between my old pair and these for a while before I was able to persuade myself that new was better. In general I would say the sound is richer and definitely has more depth, but is perhaps slightly less sharp than some older Logitech headphones.

To note: the volume control is digital rather than capacitive, which means when you use the controls you are actually changing your PC's volume. As such, it has the annoying feature that it occasionally fails to work when watching videos in a brower, necessitating changing tab or exiting the program to adjust the volume on the headset. I would imagine this is due to the fact that the controls are attempting to adjust YouTube's volume levels instead and it doesn't work. This glitch aside, however, they are excellent and I appreciate the fact that companies like Logitech continue to include inline volume controls in their products.

The microphone is decently crisp; though definitely not professional-level it does well for online gaming and Skype. To note, while the product is advertised as having a 'mute button', this is in fact a microphone mute button and not for the headphones themselves.

Despite these niggles, the H390 is an excellent-quality set of headphones for the price and they come highly recommended.

UPDATE: After nearly two years of use one of the arms has become loose as a result of the small piece of plastic that clips it onto the headband snapping away. As it's seen daily use over around 22 months I'm not overly disappointed, though it does expose a slight design flaw; the frame of the arm is quite thin, with the bulk being an inlay which forms the interior of the design. If the frame is knocked or broken, the arm no longer ratchets effectively on the headband. I'll be ordering another H390 as I've been very happy with the audio quality.

Very very patchy - quality not worth the price

Firstly, sound quality of both the headset and the mic is mediocre at best, I would expect more for the price. Secondly, within several weeks of use, the left headphone has become faulty. It will randomly start and stop working (on two separate devices, so it's not a computer issue). I'm suspecting a faulty wire in the band. I'll sadly have to return these to look for a more reliable alternative. Too bad, as they are pretty comfortable to wear, even for longer periods.

      Useless Microphone

I bought the Logitech headset to use with a Rosetta Stone language course in July 2019. By February, although the earphones are fine, when I speak into the microphone I quite often get a negative rating back from the course. I am pretty sure I am pronouncing the language correctly, so decided to try reading one of the stories into the microphone which I could then play back to myself to check my pronunciation. I found a tremendous amount of crackling on the playback so assume this is why I am getting a negative rating from the course. I contacted Logitech who were most unhelpful so I am not sure what to do apart from buying a new headset by a different manufacturer.

      Extreme discomfort

This is so uncomfortable. I have a very small head but it squeezes so hard it gives me headaches and makes my ears hurt (spouse has commented that my ears are bright red right after taking it off). Volume/mute button is too far down the cord so that it often gets trapped between my desk and chair, and I often mute myself by accident. The ear pads at made of a faux leather that make an annoying squeaking sound. Sound quality is fine but these are the worst headphones I've ever purchased. I wish I could return this but too late now.

Extremely Poor – not good enough for standard sound recognition software

Since sound recognition software has been available I've been using it – over 20 years. Mostly I've used the Dragon/Nuance Naturally Speaking program on numerous devices and over that time I've used countless headsets.Although I select the headsets reasonably carefully until this one I've never had a problem but the sound quality input is so poor it frequently generates error messages and informs me that it's because of the poor quality of sound input from this device. I've tried it on my PC, my laptop and friends PC but it's inadequacy for the task is consistent. Obviously disappointing and inconvenient. Probably okay if you want to listen to music but anything that requires reasonable quality input such a sound recognition software or VoIP will struggle with this poor product. I'll be looking to return it as faulty since it is not fit for purpose.

      Perfect!

I am old fashioned insofar as headphones go. I can't stand the ones for gaming (with ear muffs) I can't stand ear buds. I prefer the spongey/standard headphones - the perk with these - the mic is very short and slim - no BIG fat mic in front of your face or mouth. The headband is extendible to very good lengths (I have a lot of big bushy hair - up or down the headset fits very comfortably and!! it doesn't get caught in my hair! lol)

Sound quality is *awesome* - very very nice - clean - clear - good bass, not too much but definitely good balance (with treble and overall - > very nice sound quality).

Overall build - seems very sturdy. I don't see this set lasting a life-time! Nor someone stepping on it! LOL
But I can see if taking good care (i.e. don't just casually throw the headset aside - on the floor, on a chair - to get stepped or sat upon - they MIGHT survive? but as with any headset I would THINK people would take good care, but 'child units' have proved otherwise LOL - completely clueless - hey why don't my headphones work anymore? I was keeping them on the floor close to my bed! uhhh you kept stepping on them??)

I am 48 years old.. a kid at heart, love my music (classical, jazz, rockabilly, blues, rock, classic rock, modern classical, ambiance, techno, Japanese/techno and more) - all of which sound very good on this headset. (The Mic - seems to be clear - good - and functions well - no obvious or apparent static/feedback in speaking). (Doesn't have external/additional volume controls, has two plugs one for ears one for mic - to go into your PC/MAC - or if you have an adapter I believe these would fit - the plugs are of standard size). The cord length is very decent and allows for room to move a bit at my desk, or lean back, read, or review papers whilst listening to music, or the news or something on YouTube whilst sorting..etc.)

Overall - really really great headphones. They cost a tad bit more than the 'cheapie standard' version and I think these are SO worth it. I think they will also LAST longer than my previous 'cheapie standard' pair.. (Though those lasted a good 5 years??? -> plus I don't sit or step on them LOL) Awesome! (Highly recommend!)

Worked for doing Teams / Zoom meetings

Bought this for use doing online meetings with a computer with no microphone. Reasonably comfortable to wear and the headband is adjustable. Note that some of the cheaper models don't have an adjustable headband. Microphone on the right side which I prefer can be folded up out of the way for listening. Noise cancelling is not particularly effective and sound quality is average for e.g. listening to music [judged against my top end Sennheisers to be fair] . However, they are good for the price and have done what I needed.

Works a treat for home working!

I initially bought this as I was having more and more "Skype" calls at work and the headset I had wasn't very comfortable (and some people couldn't hear me very well.)This headset has been an absolute godsend in the last few days with the Corona Virus lockdown and home working - I can call my colleagues on Teams and hear / be heard perfectly. It's light enough to wear for prolonged periods - so long calls are no issue!Sound quality is excellent - not had any feedback on the noise cancelling.

      My go-to Headphones

Although these are used for gaming with, they are not as such gaming headphones. I don't like having headphones that completely cover my ears, so these are great, they sit on my ears and dont squash them, which when I can be wearing them all evening is a must.I've bought several pairs of these, back to back, after trying other makes/models these are the ones I prefer. They extend to make the headset larger if you have a bigger head, i guess, but this after extended use means they drop loose and have to be pushed back in. Sometimes I'll sellotape them up, but they do stay in if you just push them up again after putting them on each time.I like that these are USB because I can plug them in the side of my gaming keyboard, meaning i dont have wires going off to the back of my PC.
