Description

The Geemarc Marbella Standard range telephone combines attractive, compact styling and is available in four colours with easy to use and practical features. The telephone is an analogue telephone that can be wall mounted or placed on a desk. As the Marbella is an analogue telephone it can connect into a standard telephone line for home or used in a business environment, this phone does not require a power supply.

The Geemarc Marbella telephone is a compact telephone with large robust buttons which could be useful for anyone with visual or dexterity impairments. It has a compact appearance as the handset actually covers the keypad when it is replaced on the telephone. The Geemarc Marbella has a last number redial button so you do not have to re input a complete telephone number just because the phone line was engaged. It also has a mute facility which cuts off the handsets microphone if you want to stop the caller hearing what you are saying. In addition the Marbella also has Tone dialling and Time break recall and is compatible with most switchboards.

      Excellent for price.

I had a phone for my landline with a cordless second handset, was receiving calls but couldn't hear anyone. Was advised to buy a cheap handset to check if it was the landline or the handset at fault. It was the handset because as soon as I connected this phone to my landline it worked. Have both made and received calls with this phone. Easy to connect, and use.

A good cheap phone for the very rare outgoing call.

We made a decision a couple of years ago to not have a phone connected to out landline because of the inability of BT to prevent continuous scam calls on an almost daily basis. However it was pointed out to me that relying on a mobile phone for 999 calls may not be a sensible option. By purchasing this inexpensive phone I now have a method of making the odd outgoing call should I so wish whilst being able to leave the ringer switched off. I am no longer bothered by scammers and yet I can easily make 999 calls. Being a simple phone it does not need to be plugged into a 13 amp socket, another benefit compared to most other landline phones. The sound quality is better than I expected for the price.

      Unexpectedly quality purchase

Nobody will take the review I am writing about this item seriously. I was just looking for a makeshift phone to make do in an emergency before taking a bit more time to pick out a more expensive, "better" model at my leisure. But this phone, as all of the other reviewers have said, is fantastic. I cannot believe the quality for the price. It could easily be four times as expensive. Classy perspex well fitting buttons, great ring tone and clarity and not at all cheap and nasty as what you might think you are going to get for the price. The manufacturer is selling themselves short. This is a great phone and I intend to buy several to cover the whole house.

      A good value phone

To be fair I know little about landline phones. I'm going on opinion with this review. The phone works well and is fairly easy to use. It's also being sold at a competitive price. Ideal for casual users of landlines or the visually impaired as buttons have easy to read writing on them.

Not the best quality phone around but certainly good for a backup.

This phone is cheap and you get what you pay for. That's not a bad thing though.Assuming this is for a second/occasional use phone, or for one for use in a power cut, it's fine. For a start it's very light, and feels flimsy, even though it's quite sturdy. The buttons are big and easy to use, so ideal for the elderly. There's a small reversable catch to allow this to be wall mounted, and it works fine. Sound quality is on par with any phone I've used before. The ringer has three settings (off, low and high) and on high it's very loud. It's enough to make you jump and can be heard through closed external doors. My only issue was that the phone line in lead (all are supplied) enters through the side at the bottom. It makes it a bit inelegant when handing on the wall. If that's my only issue, then it is certainly a good buy.

It works; it feels cheap; it's ring-tone would wake the dead!..but it serves the desired purpose insofar as if you have a power-cut, it only requires to be plugged into the phone lines to work

Fine, basically. Useful for receiving calls from cold-callers.

Like most people i only have a land line because my old mum refuses to write down my mobile number. Equally useful for the hordes of PPI companies, tele-marketers that are convinced i want to invest my meager wealth in a Romanian time-share or scammers who think i am stupid enough to give them my card details over the phone so they can fix a 'Microsoft virus they have detected on my computer'.Big numbers good for when i have to mash them angrily when i actually have to use it to make an outbound call (having been unable to find my mobile phone.)

Total crap, I will be repalcing it again after less ...

Absolute rubbish. I had a cheap simple phone for 20 years until I broke it and replaced wit with this. Total crap, I will be repalcing it again after less than 5 days. The handset takes about 10 attempts to replace after a call , then it sometimes decides to be permenatly engaged with no clue to me that it is in the wrong setting . Absoltely useless as a telephone, there have been better designs for longer than the moron who designed this has been alive. I will remember the Geemarc brand and NEVER buy anything they make ever agian. It got one star because a negative rating is not possible. I do not think I have ever come across a worse piece of consumer electronics in my life, does not even do the simplest basic telephone function of being available to call reliably . I cannot be negative enough

Phone call quality is excellent and very clear. The ringer is very loud and can be heard throughout the house, upstairs and downstairs.I'd recommend this phone to anyone that is hard of hearing, including the elderly.

It's cheap — and you get what you pay for.

This phone was bought so that in the event of a power cut I can still make phone calls — like all of the cordless phones I have seen mine needs a mains supply to function. So this phone will rarely be used, which is fortunate because it is not pleasant to use.The buttons are quite large and clear so dialling by torchlight light will be OK. I also think that for the price the sound quality is quite good, but there is no volume adjustment to it which is very rare on a phone nowadays. You can adjust the ringer volume with three switched settings, off, loud or very loud. When you dial the beeps in the handset are excessively loud, almost to the point of being painful if the handset is to your ear. Bad idea, Geemarc. The lead for connecting it to the phone socket is the thinnest, flimsiest connecting lead I have ever seen on anything, even thinner than typical doorbell wire. It is also ridiculously short. Fortunately such things are standardised so it is easily replaced. The cord for connecting the handset is also the thinnest one I have seen and came out of the box with a ready made kink in it that cannot be removed. That too is shorter than any such cable I have seen and it stretches less too. These are also a standardised item so it will be replaced with something better at some stage.Since it is only for occasional use I will keep it, but I would not recommend this product for regular use.
